Antenna Gain
Antenna Gain = Power Density at a point r from the antenna
Power density at point r from an ISOTROPIC antenna
ISOTROPIC: A spherical pattern (Same in all directions) radiating
from the antenna
Antenna Gain is due to directionality of the transmitted RF power
Example: Gain of Parabolic Antenna = 4 p A/ l2
where A = p d2/4
(can be in the range of 25-30 dB of gain)
The Dipole Antenna approximates an ideal ISOTROPIC antenna
...but the pattern resembles a doughnut
